The dental college was established by HKE society under the presidentship of Sri Basawarajappa Appa in the year 1986.
In 1996, the college was named as S. Nijalingappa Institute of Dental Sciences and Research.The teaching and hospital facilities of institution are accomodated in its own building of about 63000 sq ft.
In 1998 post graduation started in periodontics and the department has grown in all respects and successfully students have flourished since 12 years.
